Is God happy with you?

You hear so often that God loves…and God blesses…

You see those signs on the back of cars, the same car whose driver flicks you off. You read it on billboards, billboards that have an agenda past making sure you know you’re loved and blessed by God.

You hear and read “GOD BLESS AMERICA!” Yet churches are preaching messages like “God is judging america! God is bringing His wrath upon America because of their sin!” Does wrath sound like a form of blessing? Did you know that God not only blesses america, but He actually delights in America? He smiles upon America! He really really loves America, and the rest of the world for that matter!

The interpretation of love has been so distorted and skewed. Since marrying James, I’ve discovered depths of love that I had never known before him. So hear me out – I’m still learning and growing in love.

Have you ever heard “I love them but I sure don’t like them”? Sometimes I think that’s how people interpret the love of God… That He loves us because He has to right? He created us so He’s got to put up with us.
Perhaps you have had experiences with your parents where you know they love you but you’re not entirely sure if they like you or want to be around you, but they birthed you so they have no other choice but to put up with you.

The truth is, not only does God love you – He really likes you – and He is really happy with you! No matter what you do, what you don’t do, who you or or who you aren’t. He delights in you!! Period. End of discussion. There are no “but”s or “if”s.

You could stay in your room, drunk, and watching porn for the rest of your life and you would be just as loved and delighted in by God as someone who traveled the world bringing thousands of people into the Kingdom.

That’s true love.

How you respond to His love is what shapes your life. But know – His love doesn’t change based on your response.

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17
